Mission
Our mission is to unite and engage the extended family of Community Preparatory School (CP) and to become a network and resource for all of our graduates. The Mentor Program seeks to provide support for both graduates entering high school and graduates currently in high school. Whether through one-to-one mentorship, or connections with all alumni, CP is excited to continue on this new journey with you.
About Us
Through the graduate support program, we strive to assist graduates on their endeavors even after they graduate CP. Our hope is that those who wish to give back to the school they once called home always have the opportunity and platform to do so in a diverse and meaningful way, and that they feel supported beyond graduation.
Structure
The mentorship program is two-tiered and consists of one-to-one mentorships and mentor cohorts:
One-to-One Mentorship - Each recent CP graduate will be assigned a mentor that is currently a student at their high school. Mentors and mentees are expected to check in a total of four times per year.
Cohort - Recent CP graduates will also be added to existing groups of all current high school students as well as alumni from past years. Cohorts are expected to meet a total of four times: twice on campus with current students, and twice virtually with both current students and alum.
Timeline
August: Back to School Mentor Meeting, mentor assigned
September/October: (2) one-to-one mentor meetings, (1) in-person cohort meeting, (1) virtual meeting
November: individual school check ins
January/February: (2) one-to-one mentor meetings, (1) in-person cohort meeting, (1) virtual meeting
April: individual school check-ins
Expectations:
In addition to meetings, mentors and mentees are expected to be available as a resource for one another. The transition into high school is not always easy and having an established community there waiting is a great feeling. Our expectations include: honoring your commitment to meet when required and providing guidance, motivation, emotional support and positive role modeling for incoming students.
